Northgate Resorts has purchased Shady Acres Family Campground and is converting it into a Jellystone Park Camp-Resort location in Massachusetts.
“We have already begun mapping out the improvements we would like to make,” Northgate CEO Zachary Bossenbroek said of the park, which will be named Cranberry Acres Jellystone Park since it is located near cranberry bogs.
The 132-site campground will reopen as a Jellystone Park in mid-April. The park is 50 miles south of Boston, 10 miles from Plymouth Rock and 18 miles from the Bourne Bridge, which connects Cape Cod with the rest of Massachusetts. Miles Standish State Forest is less than three miles away, offering park guests 13 miles of hiking trails throughout oak and pine forests.
Attractions at the Cranberry Acres Jellystone Park include a fishing pond and beach, a swimming pool, a kiddie pool, hiking trails, a 9-hole miniature golf course, two playgrounds, a dog park, a gem mining sluice, a game room and arcade and a 4,320-square foot pavilion. Basketball, tennis and volleyball courts are also available as well as a horseshoe pit.
Northgate is tentatively planning to add additional attractions this year, including a jumping pad, laser tag, cornhole, and kayak rentals. Northgate is also planning to expand the camp store and, in 2022, install cabins.
