Our international traveling family of four, was looking for some inexpensive accommodations while attending the Project World School Summit in Merida. Since we were not staying at the conference hotel “Los Aluxes” they recommended Nomadas Hostel just around the corner from them. A quick search on Hostelworld and we were able to make our reservations and once we arrived made the final payment to the hostel.
We had a private 1st floor room with a private shower and bathroom. The room was bare except for a double bed, a single bed and a bunkbed. There was also a small locker to fit maybe 2 backpacks. The white sheets left a lot to be desired but provide a base and we used our dreamies as linens to sleep in. Nomadas is a budget hostel which cost about $12.00 USD per person.
The room had a/c available from 10 p.m. till 4 a.m. and it did provide relief during the night to sleep better.
The pool and hammocks provide cool relief during the day and along with the kitchen provides a focal point to meet other travelers. The kitchen has two refrigerators to store your fruits, vegetables, water and any food you may want to cook. Just write your name on the bag from the market.
The location is about a 10 minute walk to the center of town and safe. A taxi cost us 20 pesos when needed to get there in a hurry.
Free breakfast is provided with eggs, toast and coffee. Skip the coffee and go 2 doors down to Tlahuasco Cafeteria for some freshly made lattes or cappuccino.
The free salsa lessons with coco are a great way to mingle with guests and learn to dance.
Our experience was good, the wifi worked well in the hostel lobby, we were able to store our packs for a few hours even after we checked out.
Budget travelers will enjoy hostel Nomadas with all it has too offer.
