Once you have decided on the type of accommodations, the fun begins.  The Lasershow Spectacular is a not-to-be-missed Atlanta tradition that will wow your family with state-of-the-art digital graphics and awe-inspiring laser show and fire effects.

Enjoy the show from the comfort of one of the terraces which showcase an outstanding view of the mountain, its famous carving and the world’s longest running Lasershow. You can leave the vehicle behind and take the free shuttle directly to the viewing area or drive the 5 minutes and park for free.

On another day your family can explore over 3,200 acres of natural beauty. The Park offers numerous outdoor adventures for all ages. Take a hike through 15 miles of wooded nature trails, or go fishing in a 363-acre lake. Tee off on one of two beautiful Georgia golf courses with breathtaking views and golf pro shops.

Guests that want a little more adventure during their visit should take the 1 mile trek to the top of the mountain.

The trail is open daily from dawn to dusk, unless otherwise posted. Just follow the painted yellow line and enjoy the unique scenery and spectacular views. Restrooms, a snack bar and souvenirs are located in the building on top of the mountain and are accessible during operating hours for the Summit Skyride.

While on top, 1,686 feet above sea level, enjoy amazing views of downtown Atlanta, the North Georgia mountains and the surrounding area. On a haze-free day, you can see 60 miles from the mountain.

Vehicle entry ticket is valid for access to public picnic areas, hiking and nature trails, children’s playground, walk-up trail, Quarry Exhibit, the Confederate Hall Historical & Environmental Education Center and the Lasershow Spectacular (select nights). Bicycles and pedestrians may enter at no charge.

There was so much to do at this campground that we hardly had time to visit all the other exciting opportunities in downtown Atlanta itself.  The World of Coca Cola, Centennial Olympic Park, CNN Center and the Center for Civil and Human Rights.
